This exhibition is an ANTİK A.Ş. organization on the occasion of 12 th İstanbul Biennale.

This exhibition presents a selection of ten works of six artists from the 1980-1995 period, that have been exhibited in the A Cross-Section from Pioneering Turkish Art exhibitions (1984-1989), the A, B, C, D Exhibitions (1989-1992) and in the individual exhibitions of the artists.

With its comprehensive catalogue the exhibition points out the transition period from Modernism to Post-modernism that emerged in Turkey in conjunction with the movements and productions in Soviet Russia and South-east Europe.

The works which have been in the storage of the artists and partly restored for this exhibition are examples that represent a cultural heritage revealing the direction art will take beyond that point in the period they were produced.

This exhibition aims to revive and draw focus to the transformation that took place in the field of artistic production in Istanbul in the 80’s; give the viewer and collector a perspective to perceive and appreciate the meaning of these works; recall the period of political and social turmoil in which these works were produced; propose a model for presenting the memory of contemporary art within a museological context; show the qualities of these works that connect the local to the international environment; reveal the unfolding of intellectual processes on the path towards democratization; invite and challenge the international biennale viewers to see, perceive and appreciate the contemporary art productions if Turkey in its historical perspective.
